Electrical Repairs and Troubleshooting in Coral Springs, FL

Electrical Repairs and Troubleshooting in Coral Springs, FL and Broward County

Most electrical problems have one cause hiding behind three symptoms. We find the cause, show it to you, and fix that, rather than replacing parts until the symptom goes away.

What we repair

If it is inside the house and carries current, we work on it. The common calls:

  • Dead outlets and switches, including the ones that only work sometimes
  • Breakers that trip repeatedly, or GFCIs that will not reset
  • Flickering or dimming lights, especially when an appliance starts
  • Loose or backstabbed connections behind devices
  • Burnt or discolored outlets and switch plates
  • Ceiling fan and fixture faults
  • Exterior and pool-area circuits that stopped working after a storm

What is usually going on

A loose neutral

The single most common cause of lights that dim when the AC kicks on. Often in one device box, sometimes at the panel. Dangerous if it is at the service.

A backstabbed connection

Devices wired with the push-in terminals loosen over time and heat up. We move them to the screw terminals, which is how they should have been done.

A GFCI downstream

One tripped GFCI can kill outlets in three rooms plus the garage and patio. Finding which one takes a methodical search, not guesswork.

An overloaded circuit

Older homes often have a bedroom, a bathroom, and half the kitchen on one 15A circuit. The fix is a new circuit, not a bigger breaker.

Water where it should not be

Coastal humidity and summer storms find every unsealed exterior box. Corrosion follows.

Rodent or insect damage

Attics in South Florida are busy places. Chewed insulation on a branch circuit is a real fire risk and a common find.

How the job goes

  1. Call and describe it

Tell us what happens and when. The pattern usually points to the cause before we arrive.

  2. Troubleshoot

We test, isolate, and trace until we find the actual fault. We take notes and show you what we found.

  3. Written price before repair

Once we know the cause, you get the price in writing. No work starts until you have said yes.

  4. Repair and verify

We fix it, then test the whole circuit to confirm nothing else on it is marginal.

  5. Walk you through it

You see the old part, the new part, and what caused it, so you know what to watch for.

Questions we get

Do you charge for troubleshooting?

Diagnostic time is part of the job and is quoted like anything else. What we do not do is charge you to guess. The price for the repair is confirmed once the cause is found.

Can I just replace the breaker myself?

A breaker that trips is usually protecting you from something downstream. Replacing it with a bigger one removes the protection and leaves the problem. Please call before doing that.

How fast can you come out?

Less than a week out for scheduled work, sometimes next day. If something is smoking, warm to the touch, or smells burnt, shut off the breaker and call. We will tell you what to do next.

Is a small repair worth a licensed electrician?

A $40 outlet is cheap. The house behind it is not. Repairs are also where most unpermitted, uninspected work gets found later, so having it done right has value beyond the fix.
