Electrical Panel Replacement in Coral Springs, FL

Electrical Panel Replacement in Coral Springs, FL and Broward County

The panel is the one part of the house everything else depends on. We replace worn, obsolete, and undersized panels across Broward County, pull the permit, and meet the inspector ourselves.

What a panel replacement includes

A changeout is more than swapping the box. Done properly it resets the whole service entrance to current code, which is what the inspector is checking for.

  • Demo of the old meter can and main distribution panel
  • New 200A meter combo or main breaker panel
  • Fresh grounding: two ground rods, intersystem bonding, water-pipe bond
  • Type 2 surge protective device at the service
  • AFCI and GFCI protection where the code now requires it
  • Every circuit labeled in the directory before we close the door
  • Permit pulled with your city, inspection scheduled and attended

Signs it is time

Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or Challenger

These brands have documented failure histories. Many insurers will not write or renew a policy with one in the house, and a home inspector will flag it at sale.

Breakers that trip for no reason

Or the opposite: a breaker that never trips on a circuit you know is overloaded. Either one means the panel is not doing its job.

Warmth, buzzing, or a burnt smell

Heat at the panel cover or a faint smell of scorched plastic is a stop-what-you-are-doing situation. Call us before anything else.

No room for what you want to add

An EV charger, a pool heater, an outdoor kitchen, or a mini-split can push an older 100A or 150A service past its limit. Upgrading the service is the fix, not doubling up breakers.

Rust or corrosion at the meter can

Salt air and summer storms are hard on exterior enclosures. Corrosion on the meter base or main lugs is a fire path waiting for a load.

Buying or selling a home

Insurers and inspectors in South Florida look at the panel first. A documented, permitted replacement removes the objection before it comes up.

How the job goes

  1. Walkthrough

We look at the existing service, the meter, the grounding, and what you plan to add. We take notes and photograph everything.

  2. Load calculation and written quote

We size the new service against the actual load, not a guess. The quote is itemized in writing before anything is scheduled.

  3. Permit

Filed with your city. Coral Springs, Parkland, Plantation, wherever you are. FPL is coordinated for the disconnect and reconnect.

  4. Changeout day

Power is off for most of a working day. Old equipment out, new service in, grounding and bonding redone, surge device installed, panel labeled.

  5. Inspection and closeout

We meet the inspector, handle any corrections, and walk the finished work with you. You get a labeled panel and a copy of the closed permit.

Questions we get

How long is the power off?

Plan on most of a working day. We coordinate the utility disconnect and reconnect so the outage is one continuous block rather than several.

Do I really need a permit for this?

Yes. A service change without a permit is a problem you inherit at closing and a gap in your insurance coverage. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspection.

Will my insurance require this?

Increasingly, yes. Several carriers in Florida decline to write policies on homes with Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or Challenger panels. A permitted replacement usually resolves it. Check with your agent before you renew.

Can you add a surge protector at the same time?

We install a Type 2 surge protective device on every service we replace. It is required on new dwelling services under current code, and it is the cheapest insurance for everything plugged into your house.
